01 · Introduction
A Letter to the Reader
This document is not a business plan. It is not a pitch deck. It is not a technical manual. It is something rarer and more important: the complete story of why Zadwa NetworkZadwa is a variation of Adwa — the site of Ethiopia’s historic 1896 victory against colonial forces. The name is a direct, intentional link to that history of self-determination. exists, what it believes, what it is building, and where it is going.
The world has a problem. It has always had this problem, but today it is more visible than ever. Billions of people wake up every day, work hard, create real value — and at the end of the day, most of that value has gone somewhere else. To a corporation. To a platform. To a shareholder they will never meet.
Meanwhile, the tools that could liberate people — artificial intelligenceAI on Zadwa is not used to extract value from users. It is used to create value for them — through Zara the AI companion, the content studio, and automated earnings management., digital connectivity, global marketplaces — are being used to extract more value from people, not to return it to them.
Zadwa Network was born as an answer to that problem. Not a complaint. Not a protest. An answer. A working system, built from the ground up, designed so that every person who participates becomes a beneficiary, not a product.
“Life is infinitely more important than our life situation. We need to find a way to keep our life while improving our way of living. But we can only do it together.”
02 · Context
The World We Are Responding To
The Attention Economy
When social media was invented, it made a genuine promise: connect people, share ideas, build communities. But slowly, something shifted. These platforms realized that the more time you spent on them, the more money they made — not from you, but from advertisers who wanted your eyes.
The result is what economists call the Attention EconomyIn the Attention Economy, your attention is the product sold to advertisers. You receive nothing in return for the value you create by scrolling, sharing, and engaging.: your attention became the product being sold. You stopped being the customer. You became the commodity.
The Hidden Cost Nobody Talks About
Every hour you spend on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube, those platforms earn real money from your time. You earn nothing. The average person generates between $10 and $20 per week in value for social media companies — and receives zero in return.
Inequality: The Root Cause
But social media is only the most visible symptom of a deeper problem: economic inequality. For thousands of years, wealth and opportunity have been concentrated in the hands of a few, while the majority struggle for survival.
This is not an accident. It is not a natural law. The disease is inequality. The symptom is poverty. The pain is hunger, insecurity, and hopelessness felt by billions of people who work hard every single day.
Africa’s Specific Challenge
Digital platforms designed elsewhere, for other markets, in other languages, with other payment systems, have arrived and extracted value without building local capacity or returning local benefit. People across Africa are increasingly connected — but that connection is mostly flowing outward. Zadwa Network was built specifically to reverse this.
03 · The Economic Model
Time and Effort as Currency
This is the central economic idea of Zadwa Network, and it is radical in its simplicity:
Every person already has something valuable. They have time. They have effort. They have relationships. On most platforms, these things are extracted for free. On Zadwa Network, they are rewarded.
In traditional employment, your time mostly benefits your employer. In Big Tech social media, your time benefits advertisers and shareholders. In the survival economy, your time barely covers your basic needs.
Zadwa Network is built on a different answer: your time benefits you and your community.
The Franchise Model for Everyone
The best mental model for understanding Zadwa Network is a franchiseThink of it like a McDonald’s franchise, but: zero entry fee, no capital required. Your entry fee is your time, effort, and commitment. You bring the relationships; the platform provides the system. — but one where the franchise fee is zero and anyone can join.
Instead of money, your entry fee is your time, your effort, and your commitment. You join the network, share what you believe in, connect people with opportunities — and you earn from every connection that creates real value.
Activity Rewards: The Foundation
From your very first day, basic actions earn you real income: checking in daily, posting content, welcoming new members, completing learning modules, sharing a product with someone who needs it. These rewards are small but real — the platform saying: we see your effort. We value your presence. You are not invisible here.
The Role of Advertising
Nothing in the world is truly free — someone always pays for it. On Zadwa Network, advertising is one of the ways the platform funds the activity reward systemAdvertising on Zadwa is only for products and services aligned with the platform’s values. Ad revenue directly supports the community reward pool. This is a transitional arrangement — as the platform grows through real economic activity, reliance on advertising decreases.. But here, advertising is done responsibly: only aligned products, transparent and purposeful, with revenue flowing directly into community rewards.
04 · The Philosophy
Universal Basic Life (UBL)
There is a concept called Universal Basic Income (UBI)UBI is a government payment given to every citizen, enough to cover basic survival. While well-intentioned, it is financially impossible in most developing nations and only addresses survival — not living a full, meaningful life.. The idea is simple: every person receives a regular, unconditional cash payment from the government, enough to cover basic needs. It is a beautiful idea. But it has a serious problem.
| Dimension | Universal Basic Income (UBI) | Universal Basic Life (UBL) |
|---|---|---|
| Who pays | Governments — through taxes | Built into the platform’s economics |
| What it provides | Cash for survival only | Enables full living across 6 life areas |
| Who it reaches | Citizens of wealthy nations (realistically) | Anyone with a phone, anywhere on earth |
| Creates | Dependency, passive receipt | Dignity, active participation, ownership |
| Africa reality | Virtually impossible to fund | Buildable from the ground up, now |
What UBL Actually Means
UBL is not a government payment. It is a platform-powered system that helps every person build the income, skills, purpose, and community connections that make a complete life possible — not just survival, but genuine, meaningful living across all dimensions of what it means to be human.
Financial freedom is the door. UBL is what is on the other side.
05 · The Mission
The Second Adwa Mission
The First Adwa — 1896
In 1896, at a place called Adwa in northern Ethiopia, something happened that the world was not expecting. The Ethiopian army faced the invading forces of Italy — a European colonial power. Ethiopia won. Decisively. Completely.
It was the first time in the modern era that an African nation had decisively defeated a European colonial army. Adwa sent a message that reverberated around the world: Africa would not simply be taken. African people had dignity, strength, and the right to determine their own future.
The Mission Statement
Today, Africa faces a different kind of colonisation: the colonisation of attention by foreign platforms that extract value from our communities without giving back. Zadwa Network is built as an act of economic self-determination. We call this mission The Second Adwa.
The Second Adwa is not a military mission. It is a peaceful revolution. Its weapon is not force — it is a better system. A system that returns the value of human effort to the people who created it.
Just as the first Adwa proved that colonization was not inevitable, the Second Adwa demonstrates that economic extraction is not inevitable. There is another way. And we are building it.
“Facebook built the world’s most powerful connection technology and used it to sell attention. We are building the world’s most purposeful opportunity technology and using it to create wealth — distributed, transparent, and rooted in community.”
06 · The Platform
What Is the Opportunity Network?
Zadwa Network is three things that are usually separate, brought together and made to work as one:
🌱 A Learning Community
Where people learn how to build sustainable income — practically, step by step, in their own language. Learning here is not academic. You learn something, you immediately use it, and you earn from using it.
🤝 A Human Agent Network
Where real people — not algorithms — connect businesses with customers and earn a commission for every real connection that creates real value. This is commerce built on trust and relationships, not manipulated feeds.
🏪 A Sustainable Marketplace
Where ethical businesses, digital products, and purpose-aligned services are sold — and everyone in the chain benefits. Partners bring the products. Agents connect them to customers. Everyone earns.
What Makes This Different From MLM
| Factor | Traditional MLM | Zadwa Network |
|---|---|---|
| Primary income | Recruiting new members | Real sales of real products to real customers |
| Product focus | Often secondary or fictional | Central — SDG-aligned offerings required |
| Sustainability | Requires endless recruitment | Built on real economic activity |
| Who benefits | Primarily early joiners at top | Every active participant, including new joiners via community pool |
07 · Sustainability Framework
The Five Ps of Sustainability
Zadwa Network describes itself as a Sustainable EnterpriseA Sustainable Enterprise goes beyond a Social Enterprise. Social enterprises address People, Planet, and Prosperity. Sustainable enterprises add Peace and Partnership — creating a fully holistic framework for positive impact.. Most purpose-driven businesses focus on three Ps: People, Planet, Prosperity. Zadwa adds two more that most organizations overlook.
| The Five Ps | What It Means for Zadwa Network |
|---|---|
| People | Economic empowerment for every participant. Zero capital to join. Free entry, verified identity, earned income from day one. |
| Planet | Every partner product must demonstrate alignment with UN SDGs. The platform tracks and displays real environmental and social impact. |
| Prosperity | Shared prosperity — not wealth concentrated at the top. Five income streams, a community pool every active member shares, and a partner program that turns ideas into businesses. |
| Peace | Explicitly anti-division. The platform promotes connection over conflict, collaboration over competition. As it grows, it will actively work against forces that divide communities. |
| Partnership | The partner program is the structural embodiment of this P. Businesses and individuals become partners — not just vendors. They are part of the network, not transacting through it. |
Official Purpose Statement
“To accelerate global sustainability by empowering all through an inclusive and holistic opportunity network.”
SDGs We Are Targeting
SDG 4 · Quality Education
SDG 5 · Gender Equality
SDG 8 · Decent Work
SDG 10 · Reduced Inequalities
SDG 12 · Responsible Consumption
SDG 16 · Peace & Justice
SDG 17 · Partnerships
08 · Participation
The Four Roles
Zadwa Network recognizes four types of participation. These are not boxes that lock you in. They are roles — and one person can hold all four at the same time. As your journey develops, you naturally grow into more roles, each adding a new layer of opportunity.

09 · Universal Basic Life
The Six Life Pillars
The six life pillars of Universal Basic LifeUBL recognizes that a complete human life has six dimensions. Financial security is only one of them. A person who earns well but is isolated, purposeless, or unhealthy has not achieved UBL. are not a marketing framework. Every feature of the platform is designed to serve at least one of them. A feature that serves none does not belong on the platform.
The platform displays each member’s six pillars as a visual chart. Zara reads this chart and adjusts her coaching accordingly — if your financial pillar is growing but your wisdom pillar is stagnant, she will notice and respond.
10 · Design Principle
Inclusivity and Gender
Inclusivity on Zadwa Network is not a diversity statement. It is a design specification. Every feature is evaluated against one question:
“Can a person with no capital, limited internet access, a basic smartphone, in a rural area, speaking only their local language, participate in and benefit from this feature?”
If the answer is no, the feature is incomplete.
| Dimension | How the Platform Is Designed |
|---|---|
| Economic | Zero capital to join. Agents join free. Activity rewards start from day one. Community pool distributed equally to all active members — not just high performers. |
| Geographic | Local payment gateways for each region. Currency displayed in what feels natural for each user’s country. Content available offline for low-connectivity environments. |
| Linguistic | Zara speaks your preferred language. Content library in Amharic, Swahili, Arabic, French, English and more. Interface adapts to local language conventions. |
| Technological | Works on basic smartphones. Progressive Web App (PWA) — installable like a native app without an app store. Offline-first design for core features. |
| Generational | Elders contribute as mentors and advisors. Youth enter as students and quickly become agents. Every stage of life has a role. |
Gender Equity: A Core Design Principle
Gender equity on Zadwa Network means actively designing for the specific ways gender inequality manifests in the communities it serves — less access to formal employment, less mobility, less time due to caregiving, less confidence in business or technology.
How Gender Equity Is Built In
Home-based participation: The agent model works from home, from a phone, around caregiving schedules. A mother who cannot leave her home can still build meaningful income as an agent.
Equal earning by design: Commission rates, rank rewards, and community pool shares are identical regardless of gender. The system cannot discriminate because it does not know your gender to calculate your earnings.
Zara’s contextual intelligence: A woman navigating business in a conservative community gets coaching that understands her specific context.
Partner pathway equity: Women excluded from formal business systems have the same access to the partner pathway as anyone else. The only qualification is an idea and a commitment to sustainability.
11 · Your Personal Hub
The Sphere
On Zadwa Network, every person has a Sphere. This is your complete personal hub — the place where everything you do, everything you earn, everything you are working toward, and everything you want to share with the world comes together in one place.
The name Sphere is deliberate. A sphere has no top and no bottom. Every point on its surface is equally central. Financial, purpose, impact, community, learning — all equal, all present, all yours.
Before Anything Else — “You Meet Yourself First”
Before you see products, before you get your referral link, before you start earning — the platform asks you one question: “What do you want your life to look like?” You answer across the six life pillars. This becomes your anchor. Everything else on the platform connects back to it.
The Purpose Stack
| Level | What It Is |
|---|---|
| Why | Life Purpose — your anchor across the six pillars |
| Vision | The picture of your life as you want it in 10 years |
| Mission | How you operate day-to-day to get there |
| Goals | Specific, time-bound targets for this quarter or year |
| Objectives | Weekly and monthly actions that build toward goals |
| Today | Specific things Zara has curated from your objectives for today |
Every income stream, every course recommendation, every Zara message is connected back to this stack. The platform is not just helping you earn money. It is helping you build the life you said you wanted.
12 · AI Life Companion
Zara: Your AI Life Companion
Zara is not what most people imagine when they hear the words artificial intelligence. She is not a chatbot. She is not a search engine. She is not a customer service agent.
Zara is your most loyal advisor — the person in your team who knows you best, who sees your full picture, who celebrates when you win and gently challenges you when you are not moving toward the life you said you wanted. She works for you. Not for the platform.
What Zara Can Do
Zara Speaks Your Language
Zara adapts entirely to the person she is talking to: Amharic, English, Swahili, French, Arabic and more. She adjusts her tone — formal or casual, mentor or peer — and understands local cultural context, market conditions, and community norms. In the future, you will be able to speak to her by voice and she will speak back.
13 · AI Economy
The AI Credit System
Running a sophisticated AI like Zara costs real money. The credit system is how Zadwa Network manages this cost while keeping the most important features free for everyone.
Credits are purchased through the platform’s standard checkout — the same system used for buying products and courses. Credits are valid across the entire network, including on any partner subsite. One purchase, usable everywhere.
The Auto Top-Up Feature
Set a threshold — “when my balance falls below 50 credits, automatically purchase 500 more” — and the system handles it. You never get cut off mid-conversation with Zara.
The Library: Always Free
For members who cannot afford credits or choose not to purchase them, the human-curated content libraryThe library was built by real people, reviewed by the platform team, and organized for immediate use. Browse by role, platform, language, and content type. Copy, edit, make it yours. Post it. No credits needed — ever. provides a complete alternative. Browse by role, platform, language, content type. Find something that fits. Copy it. Post it. No credits needed.
The library and the AI generator work side by side. The platform never creates a situation where someone cannot participate because they cannot afford AI.
14 · Income
Five Income Streams
One of the most distinctive features of Zadwa Network is that it does not have one way to earn. It has five — and all five can be active simultaneously.
-
1Direct CommissionWhen someone clicks your referral link and makes a purchase, you earn a percentage of that sale — instantly, credited to your wallet. The most immediate income stream.
-
2Team CommissionWhen people you have brought into the network make sales, you earn a smaller percentage of those sales too. As your team grows, you earn while you sleep, while you are with your family, while you are doing anything else.
-
3Rank BonusesEvery time you advance to a new rank, you receive a one-time bonus payment. The platform celebrating your milestone — and giving you a tangible reward for the growth you have achieved.
-
4Activity RewardsRewards for showing up — daily check-in, posting content, welcoming new members, completing courses. The platform values your presence, not just your sales. A community that is active and engaged grows the value for everyone.Showing up, contributing to the community, completing courses, welcoming new members — all earn real income. The platform values participation, not just sales.
-
5Community Pool ShareEvery week, a portion of every transaction across the entire network is divided equally among all active, verified members. Not the top performers. Not the oldest members. Everyone who is active and verified — equally.
The Ripple Effect
Every single transaction on the network sends ripples outward to multiple people simultaneously:
ONE PURCHASE → SIX THINGS HAPPEN
15 · Shared Economy
The Community Pool
The Community Pool is one of the most radical economic mechanisms in the platform. It is the structural proof that Zadwa Network means what it says about shared prosperityShared prosperity means the platform’s growth benefits all members, not just those at the top. Every new transaction, every new member, every new product — all of it grows the pool that every active, verified member shares equally..
Transactions
Accumulates Weekly
All Active Verified Members
Share for Each Person
The Equal Distribution Principle
A member who joined yesterday receives the same pool share as a founding member of three years — as long as both are active and verified in that week. This is not a mistake. It is a deliberate design choice that embodies UBL philosophy: everyone who participates deserves to share in the network’s success.
The Carry-Forward Rule
If you miss a week — you were unwell, traveling, caring for a family member — your share does not disappear. It is held for you and added to your next distribution. Your share is always yours. No forfeiture, no expiration, no punishment for absence.
16 · The Pathway
The Partner Pathway
The Partner Pathway is the most transformative program on the platform. Someone with nothing more than an idea and a commitment to purpose can emerge as a verified business owner, with a fully deployed product, promoted by a network of agents across the region.
Who Can Become a Partner?
Anyone. The pathway does not discriminate by education, prior business experience, gender, age, or wealth. The only requirements: an idea that creates real value, a willingness to demonstrate SDG alignment, and completion of the acceleration learning program.
The Four Stages
17 · Trust & Safety
Human Verification & Trust
We are living through a unique moment in history. For the first time, AI systems are sophisticated enough to register accounts, pass basic verification tests, simulate human behavior, and interact in ways that appear completely real.
How do you know if the person you are connecting with is actually a person?
The Human Verified badgeThe Human Verified badge is visible to everyone visiting a profile. It signals: this person has confirmed they are a real human being. In an AI-saturated world, this badge becomes a trust currency that money cannot buy. is the platform’s answer. It is a trust currency that money cannot buy — a signal to everyone in the network that this person is real, their connections are real, and transactions with them are safe.
Verification Tiers
18 · Global Reach
Global Design, Local Heart
From the very beginning, Zadwa Network was designed to be simultaneously deeply local and genuinely global. These are not contradictions. They are design requirements.
Local Heart
The platform starts in Ethiopia. The name honors Ethiopian history. The first currency is the Ethiopian Birr. The first language focus is Amharic. The first payment integrations are Chapa and Telebirr. This deep local knowledge is a strength, not a limitation — a platform built specifically for one context is more useful to that community than one built generically for everyone and specifically for no one.
Global Design
Every technical decision is made with global expansion in mind. The currency system supports any currency. Payment gateways are configurable for any country. The language system accommodates any language. Adding a new country requires configuration, not reconstruction.
Payment Gateway by Region
| Region | Supported Gateways |
|---|---|
| Ethiopia | Chapa · Telebirr · CBE Birr |
| East Africa | M-Pesa · Equity · Flutterwave |
| West Africa | Paystack · Flutterwave |
| Global | Stripe · PayPal |
19 · The Journey
The Liberation Arc
Every person on Zadwa Network is on a journey. That journey has a shape — and understanding it helps you know where you are and where you are going.

“This is the world Zadwa envisions — a world where people live full, holistic lives. Build strong families. Create art. Restore the earth. Create time. Create legacy. Lead the future. Heal themselves.”
The Unicorn Tracker
On your Sphere, the Liberation Arc is visualized through the Unicorn TrackerThe Unicorn Tracker maps your journey from Seed — your first day — through Start-Up, Growth, and ultimately Unicorn — where your income, impact, network, and purpose are all operating at full potential. Not a gamification gimmick; a real, data-driven measure of progress across all dimensions the platform tracks.. It maps your journey from Seed through Start-Up, Growth, and ultimately Unicorn — where your income, impact, network, and purpose are all at full potential. Visible on your public Sphere — not the financial details, but the stage. A signal to the community: this person is building something real.
20 · What We Are Building
The Platform Built on This Vision
Everything described in this document is being built into a single, unified, interconnected platform. Here is a clear overview of what that platform consists of:
| Component | What It Is |
|---|---|
| Home for Every Person | A network of interconnected websites. One central Zadwa Network hub for all members. Partner subsites for approved partners — each a branded storefront, fully integrated with the main network. |
| The Academy | A full learning management system — courses with lessons, quizzes, certificates, and progress tracking. Completing courses earns activity rewards and often unlocks new capabilities. |
| The Marketplace | Supports digital products, physical products, services, subscriptions, and courses. Every product listing is by a verified partner. Every product is SDG-aligned. Every purchase triggers the Ripple Effect. |
| Zara AI Layer | Runs across the entire platform — main site and every partner subsite. She knows who you are, what your role is, where you are on your journey, and what you need next. |
| The Social Network | Community feed, profiles, connections, celebrations — powered by BuddyBoss. But unlike a standard social network, every social interaction is connected to real economic activity and real impact. |
| Global Currency System | Multi-currency display, real-time exchange rates, and country-specific payment gateways. From Chapa in Ethiopia to Flutterwave across Africa to Stripe globally — the financial language of every market it serves. |
The Plugin That Powers It All
All of this is delivered through a single, unified WordPress plugin designed for multisite networks. The plugin integrates with BuddyBoss (social profiles), WooCommerce (marketplace and payments), TutorLMS (learning), and WP Ultimo (partner subsites). One plugin. One ecosystem. The complete Opportunity Network — ready to run on any server, in any country, from day one.
